This summer, Drew Kollmeyer (2Y '26) jumped into brand management at Molson Coors as an MBA intern on the Miller High Life team. His project centered on Miller High Life Light, a brand once sold nationwide, pulled back during COVID, and recently relaunched in the Great Lakes. “My role was to figure out if the brand should expand into other markets,” Drew said. “If so, where to go with it, and then how should it show up?”

That meant digging into sales data, comparing markets, and thinking through how promotions, shopper tools, and media could help High Life Light stand out. With fewer marketing dollars than Miller Lite or Coors Light, he explained, the challenge was to be “really strategic and right-size what we put out.”

The internship gave him a front-row seat to how fast the beer business moves. “We’re seeing sales trends in this market… what are we going to do about it next week?” Drew said. He also got to sit in on a packaging refresh, work directly with IRI data, and, yes, enjoy the office pub. “I’d never had a Coors Banquet on draft until that summer, and it quickly became a favorite.”

When it came to recruiting, Drew started with fall events and leaned into coffee chats. “I wanted to make my interest undeniable,” he said. His advice for first years: treat every interaction like it matters, and do your homework, specifically listening to earnings calls, for example, goes a long way.

As for his go-to Molson Coors pick? No hesitation: “Blue Moon on draft, with an orange garnish, of course.”
